For all of those summer relationships, summer loves, summer flings: Here is a playlist devoted to you. A playlist curated to hopefully capture the intense, fleeting passionate moments of obsession and love between you and your summer love.

“Last Summer” by The Shadowboxers

This song encapsulates the reminiscence of past summer relationships. It speaks to the rekindling of old loves, old flames and the possibility that a summer love could make it through and last longer.

“Close to You” by Dayglow

A hip, summery beat, this song is deceivingly upbeat when juxtaposed to its lyrics which speak to the much more difficult and complex feelings that involve a summer relationship. You hold back intense feelings, feeling those three words at the tip of your tongue, but restraining yourself in fear of the inevitable end the relationship will come to.

“I Melt With You” by Modern English

A classic that I just had to include. This song perfectly embodies the intense obsession that comes with summer love. A carefree, wild tune, this song just makes you feel caught up in the little world that you and the other person create.

“Electric Love” by BØRNS

This song makes me want to scream at the top of my lungs in my car. It epitomizes everything that involves youth and love, everything feels exciting and new. The buildup to the chorus of the song is insane: definitely a crowd favorite.

“Are You Bored Yet?” by Wallows (feat. Clairo)

Taking a break from the more upbeat, fiery songs, this song is a mellow inbetween. Still maintaining that summer-feel, it feels a bit innocent, fun, and sweet. It’s the kind of song that puts you back into the moment.

“Sleep on the Floor” by The Lumineers

Slowing it down even more, this song is a bit more dramatic. It kind of reminds me of driving through the desert on a cool adventure with all the windows down, no one is talking or singing, everyone just taking in the beauty of everything that’s around them.

“Love is Only a Feeling” by Joey Bada$$

A bit more funky and smooth, this song is definitely more on the romantic side. The lyrics describe the infatuation one might feel towards another, but as the chorus goes “love is only a feeling,” it almost serves as a reminder not to go in too deep. It’s incredibly loving and very sweet.

“Sit Next to Me” by Foster the People

Queue this song when you want a carefree kind of feeling. This song is a fun and addictive feel good song, which can help pick up the mood.

“See You Again” by Tyler, the Creator (feat. Kali Uchis)

Definitely a romantic song, it’s almost dreamlike. This is the kind of the song that makes me want to close my eyes and slowly bop my head.

“C U Girl” by Steve Lacy

With a happy-sad kind of beat, this song reminds me of the bittersweetness that can come with summer love. Also more on the romantic side, it’s slow and cool.

So if you’re in a situationship, relationship, summer fling or whatever, I hope that at least one of these songs can remind you of what it feels like to be with someone during the summer.
