The Bears’ preseason has been graced with some good news: The NCAA granted defensive lineman Luc Bequette the ability to play a seventh year. Bequette will return from a brief stint at Boston College to the place where he started his college career — Berkeley, California.

Bequette played in 11 total games for the Eagles last season but got his start at Cal in 2015 before transferring in fall 2020. During Bequette’s most recent season with the blue and gold, he was part of a defense that was ranked fifth in the nation by Bleacher Report, and he earned 52 tackles.

The skilled lineman will return to Cal at the age of 24. With his age comes experience, and it’s expected that he’ll bring this and more to the Bears’ defensive line.
