I grew up in a family that thoroughly enjoys Trader Joe’s and all of the holiday foods it has to offer. From blueberry goat cheese to pumpkin body lotion, Trader Joe’s has it all. Upon moving to Berkeley, I was ecstatic that we had a Trader Joe’s just a few minutes away from our apartment. However, I faced an issue: My roommates did not like Trader Joe’s like I did. How did I transform my roommates into people who now go every two weeks? With these simple iconic staples.

Sparkling peach black tea

I am not a soda person, but the sparkling peach black tea is the only carbonated beverage I would gladly drink on a daily basis. A refreshing drink that is slightly sweet and peachy, this drink pairs perfectly with any meal or just on its own if you’re craving something sweet.

Chile and lime rolled tortilla chips

Although Taki’s have a special place in my heart, Trader Joe’s take on them might be slightly better. These chips are perfectly tangy and have such a great flavor that you forget about the slight lack of spiciness. Spice-heavy and easy to eat, these chips are so addicting, I would advise buying two bags when you go to the store (seriously).

Ube ice cream

Now, there are many brands of ube ice cream, but I think Trader Joe’s is by far the best. Although ube is a yam, the ice cream is surprisingly creamy and not too sweet. It is the perfect dessert to satisfy any sweet tooth, and pairs perfectly with the next item.

Trader Joe’s macarons

In the frozen section, you can buy a dozen macarons either in vanilla and chocolate or an assortment for a very good price. However, these cookies are so good they hardly ever survive the ride home. Trader Joe’s macarons are soft and chewy with great flavor — I honestly prefer them over homemade macarons.

Chicken tikka masala frozen meal

It’s no secret Trader Joe’s frozen foods are iconic. However, I hardly hear anything about the paneer and chicken tikka masala frozen meals. Although it isn’t the most authentic and supporting local businesses is preferred, these delicious frozen meals taste amazing and will leave you wanting more.

Well folks, these are the main foods I consistently have in my apartment and are definitely items you should add to your shopping list the next time you make a trip over to Trader Joe’s!
