If you’ve exhausted your Halloween movie stash and are still looking to get spooked, look no further. The Daily Clog has compiled a list of super creepy true-crime and scary-story podcasts that are sure to knock your socks off. Whether you are going out for a walk or cuddling by the fire, make sure you are in good company because these podcasts might be slightly disturbing for the faint of heart.

“My Favorite Murder”

Starting with a more light-hearted choice, we have “My Favorite Murder,” which is a true-crime comedy podcast told by Karen Kilgariff and Georgia Hardstark. They share their favorite murder stories, as well as small hometown crime tales, with their own comedic reactions. Their conversations often cover topics surrounding mental disorders, sex work and abuse and victims’ rights. Tying in pop culture references and anxiety-inducing plots, these hosts will make you laugh, think and shiver.

“Rotten Mango”

Stephanie Soo claims that her scary stories are “rotten, but a little sweet,” telling tales that are highly disturbing with a touch of sweetness. We get to peek into the psychology of various serial killers and the contexts of their lives, as well as the gruesome details of how they carried out their crimes. Some of Stephanie’s stories are gory and disturbing, presenting child abuse, the sheer cruelness of humanity and the disappointing lack of police intervention. “Rotten Mango” is as entertaining as it is thought-provoking.

“Criminal”

“Criminal” is world-renowned for a reason: Stories of people who have been caught in the middle of guilt and innocence, people who have been betrayed and witnesses of the crime are told in a captivating and addicting fashion. Host Phoebe Judge conducts preinterviews as well as live interviews to lead a thorough investigation into the crime at hand. This show is filled with new and surprising facts about our society and humanity that will leave you wanting to know more.

“Solved Murders: True Crime”

If you like solving mysteries and playing detective, this podcast is for you. Wenndy Mackenzie and Carter Roy bring their listeners on a journey to follow clues and uncover missing pieces to some of the most shocking cases.  Enjoy the thrill as you uncover the crippling schemes these criminals plot and what it takes to catch the killer in the span of days, months or years.

“Serial”

For those who love cliffhangers and the spooky suspense, “Serial” is your ideal podcast. Sarah Koenig leads this investigative journalism podcast, narrating a nonfiction story throughout multiple episodes. Koenig claims that Serial  is “about the basics: love and death and justice and truth.” Throughout the many twists and turns, you will find yourself immersed in the captivating plot and intrigued by each character.
