Cal special teams coordinator Charlie Ragle is set to become the new head coach of Idaho State football. Ragle, who was the head coach at Chaparral High School in Arizona for five years and special teams/tight ends coach at Arizona for four years before arriving in Berkeley, spent the last five seasons in charge of the Bears’ special teams unit.

Ragle has an outstanding recruiting track record. During his time in Tucson, he helped recruit Keenan Walker and Michael Eletise, ESPN’s No. 8 offensive tackle and No. 9 offensive guard in the 2015 and 2016 recruiting classes, respectively. He also contributed a great deal to Cal’s talented 2021 recruiting class, which ranked No. 20 in the nation.

He was the lone remaining coach from head coach Justin Wilcox’s first staff in 2017.

William Cooke covers football. Contact him at [email protected].
