Perhaps it was meant to be.

Despite laughing at the thought of ever playing with his father, Cal defensive coordinator Peter Sirmon, Jackson Sirmon has officially committed to Cal. The sophomore from the University of Washington entered the transfer portal in late December 2021.

Like father, like son, Sirmon plays at the linebacker position. This past season, he played in 12 total games and tallied a team-high 92 total tackles. As a result, he earned a Pac-12 honorable mention. On Sept. 25, Sirmon registered five tackles to help carry UW past Cal in a 31-24 overtime victory.

The two-year starter previously held offers from the likes of Wisconsin, Vanderbilt and Memphis before eventually committing to the Huskies. As a Bear, Sirmon can be expected to play some valuable minutes under the limelight of Memorial Stadium.
