Cal football may have just landed its starting quarterback for next season: Jack Plummer.
After 13 total starts in three seasons with Purdue, Plummer opted to test the waters of the transfer portal Nov. 30. The former three-star recruit reportedly joined Cal in late December 2021 but made it official today, via Twitter.
Last year, Plummer played a key role in Purdue’s early-season success after leading the team to an opening record of 3-1. In just the Boilermakers’ fifth game, however, he lost his starting spot to quarterback Aidan O’Connell. Over the course of the games Plummer did play in 2021, he threw for 864 yards with a 68.5% completion rate and seven total touchdowns.
At 6’5”, Plummer is currently the tallest quarterback on Cal’s roster. After the departure of Chase Garbers to the 2022 NFL draft, he is also now the most experienced. With a good arm and competitive size at the position, Plummer will likely get the nod as Cal’s starter for 2022.
