After reportedly rejecting Oregon’s offer to become its next head coach, Justin Wilcox has opted to stick with Cal until 2027.
The five-year head coach of Cal football first joined the blue and gold back in 2003, during which time he served as a linebackers coach. Under his reign since 2017, the Bears have gone 26-28. Aside from Cal, Wilcox has coached as a defensive coordinator at programs such as Boise State, University of Washington and USC.
Some of Wilcox’s most impressive accomplishments include two Big Game victories in the past three seasons after a decade-long drought. He’s recruited notable Cal football alumni from the likes of former four-star prospect quarterback Chase Garbers, linebacker Kuony Deng and wide receiver Nikko Remigio.
Back in 2017, Wilcox signed a five-year, $9.58 million contract which included a number of bonuses. While the details are still pending for Wilcox’s new contract through 2027, expect him to make a similar amount, if not more.
