JANUARY 27, 2022

With all of the chaos of the past few years, most of us aren’t sure what to expect for the year that lies ahead of us. While we may not be able to predict every detail of the future, it can’t hurt to look toward the stars to see what the upcoming year has in store for each of the 12 zodiac signs.

Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan. 19)

As a cardinal sign, these workaholics are no strangers to ambition. However, being an earth sign keeps them grounded and practical. With the uncertainty of how COVID-19 may evolve this year, they may feel overwhelmed and frustrated when it comes to pursuing their goals. As such, Capricorns need to prioritize living in the moment and focus on the relationships around them.

Aquarius (Jan. 20-Feb. 19)

It’s Aquarius season, baby. Aquarians are highly communicative and intellectual, and they’re known for staying true to themselves. As a fixed air sign, they know how to create change and orchestrate plans but can also become a bit stubborn and fall into repetitive patterns. No matter how unique these patterns are, in 2022, it’s best for this sign to incorporate elements of change — no matter how simple — into its routine.

Pisces (Feb. 20-March 19)

As the 12th zodiac sign, these water signs are very emotionally mature, aware and creative. While being a mutable sign makes them great at adapting, they can often become oversensitive and lost in their own minds. This year, these daydreamers need to focus on the reality around them and facilitate the changes they want in their actual life — not just their heads.

Aries (March 20-April 19)

Represented by the ram, these hotheaded fire signs are notorious for their childlike passion, bravery and aggression. Like Capricorn, though, being a cardinal sign can make it difficult for Aries to cope with change, especially without earth elements to keep them grounded. In 2022, they should focus on their mental health with independent, mindful activities to keep them engaged (and sane) amid the new year.

Taurus (April 20-May 20)

Ruled by Venus, Tauruses are known for prioritizing the finer things in life. As a fixed earth sign, they’re also highly dependable and loyal friends, but this can sometimes be overshadowed by their stubborn or lazy nature. Similar to Aquarius, this sign needs to break out of routines this year — whether that be through facilitating action or treating itself to something nice.

Gemini (May 21-June 20)

People may call Geminis two-faced, but this articulate mutable air sign is fantastic at carrying conversations and adapting to any situation. Still, its tendency toward unpredictability and impulsivity can get it into trouble. To adjust to the new year, Geminis should pick up activities such as journaling and focus on their careers — after all, those communication skills must make them great at networking, right?

Cancer (June 21-July 22)

Cancers are very in tune with their emotions and are often associated with maternal traits such as loyalty and intuition. However, this cardinal water sign can often let its emotions take the reins. Given that 2022 will likely be filled with plenty of challenges, Cancers need to prioritize their relationships by establishing a mutual support system that will continually keep them — and those around them — validated.

Leo (July 23-Aug. 22)

Leo’s symbol, the lion, perfectly encapsulates the fiery energy of this brave-hearted sign. Yet as a fixed sign, they can often let their naive pride cloud their judgment, keeping them a bit self-centered. As 2022 progresses, this sign should look toward ambitious projects to which it can dedicate its energy and loyalty — and help satisfy its ego in the process.

Virgo (Aug. 23-Sept. 22)

Known for their Type A personalities and perfectionist attitudes, Virgos are a force to be reckoned with. However, they can often spiral from their rigid, structured mindsets, even though they are a mutable sign. This year, this earth sign needs to get out of its comfort zone by spending time with loved ones and taking up new activities — perhaps some they’ve never had time to fit into their routine.

Libra (Sept. 23-Oct. 22)

Another Venetian-ruled sign, Libras are known for their beauty, grace and elegance. Natural-born mediators with air-sign communication skills, they’re great at maintaining balance. However, this can lead to them struggling with conflict and being a bit shallow. In the new year, this sign should work on combating its overthinking and clearing its head with self-care activities such as going for walks and using face masks.

Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 21)

As the “seductive” sign of the zodiac, Scorpios are known for their angst, complex emotions and tendency toward obsession. However, they can also be incredibly passionate and determined, propelling them toward their goals. To make the most of their 2022, Scorpios should try to become comfortable opening up to others and be collaborative in their work.

Sagittarius (Nov. 22-Dec. 21)

As a Sagittarius myself, I’m all too familiar with the chaos, honesty and sarcasm this fire sign is infamous for. While being a chaotic mutable sign can keep Sagittarians lively, they can also allow their tendency for oversharing to get the best of them. For the new year, this sign should focus on making rational, well-thought-out decisions — without dulling its sparkle, of course.

So there you have it! Even though I can’t promise the new year won’t be filled with plenty of ups and downs, I hope you can take this astrological advice with you as you navigate 2022.
