A car crashed into the Alpha Phi sorority house early Thursday morning, shaking the house and causing residents to evacuate.

The accident occurred around 5:30 a.m. Thursday at 2830 Bancroft Steps, according to UCPD Sgt. Cris Olivet.

Olivet noted the driver was injured and taken to a local hospital but will recover from the accident. Nobody in Alpha Phi was injured.

At the time of the crash, the fire department entered the house to check the structural integrity of the building. However, Olivet noted UCPD is not responsible for the building and does not know the current status.

Residents of the sorority have been evacuated and are currently displaced.
