i’m sorry to

the one i left behind,

to fields of sorghum

and lakesides

covered in moss.

you know what

it’s like to look different,

to be so

unlike them.

i’m sorry i

left you there, with

girls unclothed

in your dreams while

i watch them

tangle in my sheets.

to find comfort

in God is a strange

thing, one that i

don’t see in chapels

anymore.

when you speak to him,

send him my

regards. tell him

i understand

what he meant when

he spoke about the hills.

it never rains here.

i’m not sure if

you’d like it.

but i think

i finally do.
