As an avid romance anime watcher, I have seen almost all of the popular romance anime and consider myself well-versed in the genre. Here is the perfect romance anime for you to watch next based on your zodiac sign!
Capricorn (Dec. 22 – Jan. 19): “Love is Hard for Otaku”
Known for their honesty and maturity, Capricorns should watch “Love is Hard for Otaku.” This anime follows a group of working adults who all have an obsession with a certain aspect of popular culture, which is seen as taboo in their office settings. After finding a new job, Narumi hopes no one finds out she is a yaoi fangirl, until she sees Hirotaka, an old friend who knows all about her secret obsession and has one of his own as an avid gamer. After playing video games with Hirotaka after work, the two decide to start dating and learn to love each other for who they are, quirks and all.
Aquarius (Jan. 20 – Feb. 18): “Horimiya”
Known for being rebels at heart, “Horimiya” is the perfect romance anime for this air sign. Hori is known at school for being popular and successful whereas Miyamura seems gloomy and downright boring. Once the two meet outside of school, they are complete opposites. Hori is a homebody who acts as a second parent to her brother and Miyamura is laid-back and edgy with multiple tattoos and piercings. When the two see that their appearances in social settings are not all that they seem, they quickly fall in love.
Pisces (Feb. 19 – March 20): “Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai”
As a water sign, Pisces can often be lost in emotion and swept up in worlds of fantasy, making “Rascal Does Not Dream of Bunny Girl Senpai” a great anime for them to watch next. When Sakuta sees Mai randomly dressed as a bunny girl at his school’s library, he is completely taken aback. He soon realizes that he is the only one who can see Mai since she suffers from what she calls “adolescence syndrome.” Determined to figure out how this happened, Sakuta decides to spend more time with Mai and try to help her. Warning: This romance anime is heart-wrenching, so you’ll probably need some tissues on standby.
Aries (March 21 – April 19): “Toradora!”
Often seen as short-tempered and bold, “Toradora!” is the obvious choice for this fire sign. When Ryuji runs into the infamous Taiga, known for her sharp temper, he is surprised to find she lives near him. When Ryuji and Taiga both discover they have crushes on two people in the same friend group, they make an arrangement to help set each other up with their prospective crush. However, most of their plots end up backfiring. By the end of the series, the unlikely pair are smitten with each other.
Taurus (April 20 – May 20): “Monthly Girls’ Nozaki-Kun”
Given this earth sign’s strong desire for stability in the workplace, “Monthly Girls’ Nozaki-Kun” makes for a perfect watch. When Sakura confesses to Nozaki — a renowned shoujo manga artist publishing under a pen name — that she likes him, he assumes she is simply a fan of the manga he draws for and gives her an autograph. After realizing who Nozaki really is, Sakura decides to work as his assistant to get closer to him.
Gemini (May 21 – June 20): “My Dress-Up Darling”
Since Geminis often have double personalities, the romance anime “My Dress-Up Darling” suits them well. Gojō has always been a loner, partly because of his love of the traditional dolls his grandfather makes. He hopes to become a dollmaker of his own in the future. Once he meets the cheerful Marin, though, his life changes for the better after she drags him into her world as a cosplayer. Through making her cosplay outfits, Gojō and Marin end up falling in love with one another.
Cancer (June 21 – July 22): “Rent-A-Girlfriend”
Known for their goofy sense of humor, any Cancer’s perfect anime to watch next is “Rent-A-Girlfriend.” After Kazuya Kinoshita is dumped by his girlfriend at the beginning of the series, he decides to use an online dating app to rent Chizuru Mizuhara as his girlfriend. Once his family and friends notice the two together though, Kinoshita keeps renting Mizuhara to keep up appearances, while his bank account slowly dwindles.
Leo (July 23 – Aug. 22): “Your Lie in April”
As natural performers, Leo’s should watch “Your Lie in April.” The show focuses on Arima, who was a child piano prodigy but stopped playing the piano after his mother’s death. When he meets the brilliant violinist Miyazono Kaori, she tries to pull him back into the music world. This is another extremely sad anime on this list, so be prepared to shed a couple of tears by the end of the series.
Virgo (Aug. 23 – Sep. 22): “Fruits Basket”
As an earth sign that is always willing to help others, Virgos would love “Fruits Basket.” “Fruits Basket” follows Tohru, who learns the Sohma family is possessed by the 13 members of the Chinese zodiac, causing them to turn into their assigned animal once someone of the opposite gender touches them. After getting to know more about the Sohma family and understanding the family members’ emotional trauma, Tohru starts to help them deal with their past. Along the way, she ends up growing closer to Yuki and Kyo, two teenagers in the Sohma family who are in high school alongside her.
Libra (Sep. 23 – Oct. 22): “Ouran High School Host Club”
Since Libras are the most social of the zodiac signs, they’ll definitely enjoy “Ouran High School Host Club.” While trying to find a place to study, Haruhi Fujioka finds the Ouran High School Host Club, a group of boys who make money entertaining students, particularly female ones. Over time, she ends up falling in love with one of the Ouran High School Host Club boys, while the others try to catch her attention.
Scorpio (Oct. 23 – Nov. 21): “Love is War”
Since Scorpios are very calculated and intelligent, “Love is War” is well suited for them. This anime is a romantic comedy that follows the two geniuses, Shirogane and Kaguya, who can’t admit their love for each other. Instead, they play mind games with one another to see who can confess first.
Sagittarius (Nov. 22 – Dec. 21): “Inuyasha”
Since Sagittariuses are known for their love of adventure, “Inuyasha” is perfect for them. Inuyasha follows Kagome who is the reincarnation of the priestess Kikyo, who protected the Jewel for Four Souls. After she falls in a well, Kagome is transported to 50 years after Kikyo’s death and meets Inuyasha, a dog-demon who is also in search of the Jewel for Four Souls. On their quest to find the Jewel, Kagome and Inuyasha fall in love.
