Man fatally shot on Channing Way near Byron Street

A man was fatally shot in the 1100 block of Channing Way, as first reported by Berkeleyside. Police responded to a report of a gunshot at 9:30 p.m. Tuesday night.

A man was fatally shot in the 1100 block of Channing Way on Tuesday night, as first reported by Berkeleyside.

Berkeley Police Department responded to a report of a gunshot at 9:30 p.m. and found a man unresponsive with a gun in his hand, according to Berkeleyside. The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

While police initially thought his death was a suicide, they are now investigating it as a homicide, according to Berkeleyside. It is the second homicide in Berkeley in 2022.
