UC Berkeley student Luca Elghanayan was pronounced dead after having a medical emergency near Pimentel Hall at around 10:20 p.m. Monday.

The Berkeley Fire Department and officers from the UCPD responded to the scene according to UCPD public information officer Sabrina Reich.

Reich added that Elghanayan was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The Alameda County Coroner’s Office is currently investigating the cause of death.
