The Alameda County District Attorney’s Office charged a suspect in the May 3 shooting on Channing Way with murder May 6, as first reported by Berkeleyside.

The U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force arrested 20-year-old suspect Devin Carrihill in Oakland on May 4 after detectives obtained a warrant for his arrest, according to Berkeleyside.

Carrihill has been charged with murder, assault with a deadly weapon and other criminal enhancements, according to Berkeley Police Department, or BPD, spokesperson Byron White. White added that a second person was reportedly shot at the same Channing Way location May 3. Additionally, another person allegedly provided false statements to BPD to help the suspect avoid arrest, White noted.

The suspect is still in custody and has a plea hearing scheduled for May 27 at 9 a.m. at the Wiley W. Manuel Courthouse, according to public documents from the district attorney’s office.
