Turning 21 is a significant part of the college experience. It opens up a whole world of places you can now go to. Bars, and breweries and pubs, oh my! With all the excitement of achieving the milestone, it’s hard to decide where to go first with your premium access. That’s why I’ve compiled a list of a few places in Berkeley where any students of legal age can partake in some 21-and-older fun!

Raleigh’s Pub

Raleigh’s Pub is always a reliable place to go to for any last-minute plans you may have. With its indoor fire pit, outdoor seating and fun setups of cornhole and bocce ball, this little pub knows how to give off the most chill vibes. Raleigh’s Pub is especially great on its taco Tuesday nights with $2 tacos and $5 margaritas! Located on Telegraph Avenue, it’s the perfect place for college students 21 years or older looking to let off some steam. Be timely though, the pub’s outdoor seating closes at 10 p.m.

Kip’s Bar and Grill

Kip’s Bar and Grill is the place to go if you’re looking for some crazy fun! Located on Durant Avenue, everyone goes to this bar for a good time on the dance floor. Most nights are free before 10 p.m., then a $5 to $10 fee is charged upon entry. Regardless, this bar and grill remains a Berkeley favorite among students, and it stays open until 2 a.m.!

Jupiter

The self-proclaimed “most popular brewhouse in the East Bay,” Jupiter has a similar vibe to Raleigh’s Pub. With whimsical outdoor seating, it’s a great place to go on a date or with a group of friends. This restaurant is open to all ages, but has 21-and-older nights on Fridays and Saturdays after 7 p.m. If you’re looking for a good atmosphere to sit down and enjoy a beer in, this is the place for you. Just head over to Shattuck Avenue and find the bright-blue neon sign.

The Tap Haus

This German-inspired bar is a hidden gem within the Berkeley Southside area. Located on Durant Avenue right at the back of Durant Loft, you can find its entrance. With low lighting, rows of pool tables and German beer and snacks at the ready, this bar has a very relaxed environment. If you’re looking for a game of billiards and a good glass of beer, The Tap Haus is where you want to go.

This list just scratches the surface of notable places for 21+ fun near the UC Berkeley campus. There are so many more places to explore, and I hope these suggestions help lead the way to your discoveries!

TikTok has established itself a reputation as “the trendy dance app,” which — in a sense — is true, but it’s so much more than that. Although it’s fun to jump on the latest video trend, TikTok also has much more to offer.
