AUGUST 17, 2022

With increasing heat as we enter mid-August, you may be struggling to find fun indoor activities to keep you occupied and cool. If you’re tired of going to the movies or staying in, the Daily Clog is here to help. Today’s A-Z date spot in the Bay Area is the perfect way to stay cool and try out something new, escape rooms! Whether you’ve never tried one or are an avid  enthusiast, we’re here to help you plan your perfect escape room date.

Types of escape rooms

Escape rooms come in all shapes and sizes. From scary escape rooms with live actors to historical ones, there are a plethora of experiences to choose from. We recommend looking through online guides such as Yelp to peruse some different options near you. In the Bay Area alone, specifically San Francisco, there are countless options to select from. Whatever niche excites you is sure to have its own escape room game available.

At-home escape rooms

If you’re trying to save some money, there are many great resources on how to create your own escape room at home. Looking through Pinterest or online for basic outlines can help you develop your very own game from scratch. Pick a theme that you enjoy and begin creating clues and challenges. If you want to make it a group effort, grab some friends and each pick a section of the room to create. Once the whole game is developed, invite others to join and make a whole night of it. Everyone is sure to love your cost-efficient and clever game night idea!

Make a day of it

While escape rooms can be an exciting activity, they tend to only last about an hour. If you’re looking to extend your activity, there are plenty of things to try out! Maybe grab some dinner near the game. If you are in a new area, this is the perfect time to explore different foods and restaurants. Have each person you’re with pick a place to get one food item, and share a potluck dinner at a local picnic spot. Or if you really enjoyed your escape room experience, see if the location you’re at has multiple rooms! Try out a couple different options and see which are your favorites.

However you choose to go about your escape room day, you’re sure to have a blast trying out new games and puzzles and bonding with your friends. Make a day of it and start planning your perfect game-filled day!
