AUGUST 17, 2022

My summer bucket lists are extremely ambitious every year. These lists are full of potentially fun activities that I never get around to, or, on the other hand, full of productive tasks that I never accomplish.

As a result, as school comes creeping back around the corner every year, I always feel a sense of panic. I usually feel like I have to do everything I didn’t do over the summer within a week. However, I’ve concluded that it’s difficult  to cram a three-month itinerary into one week’s worth of time. I mean, I might as well just enjoy the rest of my time without extreme stress, right?

I’ve found little ways to enjoy the rest of my summer. They’re all very  simple, but still things that I can’t do when school is in session.

Here are a few simple ways to enjoy the last few days of summer!

Watch the sunrise

Waking up early is can be fun when you realize you don’t have the  pressure of having to  go anywhere! Watching the sunrise is something that I don’t do very frequently, but it’s always a peaceful sight. Taking time to watch the sunrise is rewarding during summer because you don’t have to worry about rushing to school right after, which means you  get to enjoy the view wholeheartedly!

Spend time with loved ones

For some of us, the start of the school season means having to say goodbye to loved ones. This goodbye can be difficult to do which is more of a reason to cherish allotted time with them! Be sure to appreciate your time and do fun activities with them. These activities include game nights, dinners and more.

Pull an all-nighter reading your favorite novels

You know when you pick up a book so good you can’t put it down? Well, during summer, you have an excuse not to! Being awake just for the sake of reading is definitely an unmatched feeling. It’s just you and the words on the pages with no one around to interrupt you. I one hundred percent recommend it to any bookworm! Take however much time you want to finish your books because this is not an available option once classes begin. Sleep is much more important when your grades depend on it.

Try a new recipe

Whether it be cooking or baking, trying out a new recipe to make is something you should do before the summer ends! Summer is the perfect time to experiment in the kitchen and possibly, discover your new easy go-to recipe for the upcoming busy school year! You can even make a whole day out of it by inviting loved ones to help out!

Binge watch some movies

Watching movies is time consuming. It may be hard to get around to watching movies when you have a lot on your plate. Between lectures to studying, watching a film or two isn’t a top priority most days. Utilize your time right now to get in those movies you didn’t have the opportunity to watch. You know, the ones you told yourself to watch a few months ago but simply haven’t.

That’s all! I hope you enjoy the rest of your summer! Take some time for yourself while you can! Your future self will thank you for taking care of yourself before the chaos of academia begins.
