Fall semester means many things — new classes, move in days and of course, UC Berkeley game days! Countless students spend their Saturdays making the long walk up the hill to Memorial Stadium just to cheer on our Bears. With game days comes an endless amount of school spirit. If this season, though, you find yourself bored with the typical game day attire, The Daily Clog is here to help! Here are some ways to create the best game day outfits this year.
Monochrome
Game days are the perfect opportunity to wear something new out there. If you’re struggling finding different ways to combine your favorite blue and gold pieces, try out a monochrome look! After all, it’s okay to ditch the basics! Whether it be blue denim with a matching top, or an all gold ensemble, this is the perfect way to use things you already have in an inventive way.
Accessories
If you’re looking to incorporate some bling without spending a dime, try sprucing things up with some accessories! Gold or yellow sunglasses enhance your look with minimal effort and are a good way to protect yourself from the sun. Or try out some fun hairstyles. Bubble braids with colorful ties, headbands or braids with blue and gold butterfly clips are just some of the ways to take your pieces to the next level. If you want a more practical statement item, a clear bag is a great choice. A fanny pack, backpack or purse can hold all your things, plus make your outfit stylish and spirited. These little additions can make any outfit stand out on game day!
Mix up styles
While game days have always meant shorts and tank tops, one new way I’ve loved showing my UC Berkeley spirit is by experimenting with any blue and gold clothes in my closet. On game day, nothing is off limits! Take it from someone who has loved trying out everything from dresses to pajamas. Try wearing out some pieces that normally aren’t your style and see just how far you can go with your outfits! If it’s in a school color, it’s fair game for game days.
Swap clothes
If you’re still in a rut, it’s likely someone else around you is too. Try swapping your favorite top or go-to bottoms and see how you can mix and match. Ask around and maybe you can find a whole new outfit from your roommates and friends. Borrowing clothes is the best way to change up your game day outfits without having to spend a penny!
Take advantage of some of these style tips this semester to spruce up your game days. We hope this season is full of many fun outfits and UC Berkeley wins!
