It’s so important to set aside some quality time for yourself during the week. Self-care nights are great for your mental and physical well-being. Self-care nights can happen multiple times a week or just once a week — it varies for each person. I like to have my self-care nights on Sundays to go into the week with a good mindset! Here are some tips to use when you want to wind down and relax!
Clean your space
A clean space allows for a clear mind! The first step in any self-care night is decluttering. This could be doing your laundry, cleaning off your desk, sweeping the floors, etc. You’ll already feel better when you check off a few of these small tasks. Also, waking up in the morning to a clean space is a great way to start the day and the week.
Take THE shower
Now it’s time to start pampering yourself! Take a hot shower to relax your muscles and body. Make sure to use all of your favorite shower products, including exfoliators, hair masks and maybe even a shower mist to make you feel like you’re at a real spa. Let the pampering begin!
Skincare
Time for a face mask! Remove any makeup and rejuvenate your skin with a face mask. Afterwards, use a face roller to reduce inflammation and soothe your skin. Don’t forget to apply lotion!
Get comfy
Put on your favorite set of pajamas! It doesn’t matter if it’s a silky pajama set or sweats and a t-shirt as long as you’re comfy. The more comfortable you are, the more you’ll really soak in the self-care night.
Tea
This is my favorite part of any self-care night. Make yourself any kind of tea as long as it’s decaf! My favorite kinds that I like to drink at night are chamomile, mint or sleepy time tea. These are both calming and a great way to wind down. Tip: put honey in your tea to add some sweetness and antioxidants!
Create a calm space
A huge part of self-care is making your environment feel relaxed so you can feel at ease. This might mean dimming the lights and turning on the fairy lights. For others, it’s lighting a candle or turning a diffuser on with a calming essential oil.
Entertainment
Turn your phone off and unplug for a bit! Instead of using your phone, put on your favorite tv show, journal or read a few chapters of a book! I highly recommend that you journal because it’s a great way to clear your mind. Removing the negative energy from your mind and onto the paper is absolute bliss!
Bedtime
Make sure to go to bed relatively early so that you can get a good night’s sleep. If you have a heating pad, I would recommend sleeping with that to be extra warm and cozy.
It’s so easy to become consumed by school, work and social commitments that sometimes we forget to look after ourselves. Self-care is essential for staying happy and healthy. I hope that these suggestions help you build your own version of a self-care night and that you’re able to feel more relaxed afterward!
