At approximately 1:30 p.m. Friday, a power outage affected portions of West and South Berkeley, as well as some units in North Berkeley.

The outage in North Berkeley affected units along Martin Luther King Jr. Way between Virginia Street and Vine Street, according to the PG&E outages website.

In West Berkeley, a majority of units in the region bounded by Durant Avenue, Shattuck Avenue, Martin Luther King Jr. Way and Carleton Street were affected.

In South Berkeley, a majority of units in the region bounded by Dwight Way, Telegraph Avenue, Carleton Street and Shattuck Avenue were affected, in addition to some units between Carleton and Derby Streets along Dana Street.

At 1:55 p.m., PG&E sent a text message to affected customers informing them of the outage. A prior message at 1:34 p.m. informed customers that a crew was onsite working to fix the issue. As of now, it is unclear when the issue will be resolved. Customers can monitor the status of the outage on the PG&E outages website.

“Widespread rain, heavy mountain snow and gusty winds from storms may cause outages,” the website reads. “We urge you to stay safe and be prepared.”
