With the recent weather, you may want some ideas of what to do when it’s cold and rainy! When you’re cooped up in an apartment or dorm room during gloomy weather, it can be easy to feel bored. Hopefully after reading this article you’ll become inspired!

Rainy hike

The rain doesn’t have to stop you from going outside if you embrace it! Put on your heaviest raincoat and shoes that you don’t mind getting dirty, grab an umbrella and head for the hills with some friends!

Baking

Baking is an iconic rainy day activity because it’s so comforting and makes your home feel warmer — literally. Some ideas are chocolate chip cookies, muffins, scones, cupcakes, bread or anything you’ve been craving lately. It’s also a great activity to do with friends if you get some music playing and have fun with it!

Pick up a new hobby

Some examples include learning to crochet, scrapbooking, yoga, journaling, crossword puzzles, painting, cooking, etc.

Deep clean or organize your room

This might not sound like a super fun activity, but you’ll feel better after you have a refreshed environment. Especially since you have to spend all day at home, you might as well make it clean! Also, cleaning can be fun if you play your favorite music while doing it! Maybe your room is already clea  but your desk drawers are a mess and your closet is overflowing. Take some time to make a pile to donate.

Create a playlist

Finding good new songs is one of the best feelings. Browse some Spotify or Apple Music playlists, and create a new rainy day playlist!

Board game or movie night

If you have a stash of board games that just sit in your closet and never get used, now is the time! Similarly, if you have been meaning to watch a movie or binge a TV series, go for it! Rainy days are the perfect excuse to have a lazy day.

Catch up on schoolwork

On the other hand, if you have midterms like I do, use this time to get some work done. If you don’t want to trek in the rain to campus, then turn your living space into a calm, working environment. Put in some headphones, light a candle, get some coffee or tea and get to work!

I hope when it rains next, you’ll have some ideas on how to keep yourself busy while bringing some fun into your rainy days!
