Calls from Nostalgia, unheard.
Ignored voices from the past.
Joy in the present, unnoticed.
Justified fears of the future.
Something more lonely than regret—

Empty classrooms.
Green trees at exactly noon.
Music we all heard that one time.
All of the above combined
Into the perfect moment.

Temporal spaces,
The memories of each
long-gone place
Neatly filed away into
Subconscious cabinets.

Thanks to bad senses of direction,
Wrong turns
At unexpected corners,
Where doors open
like accidental invitations.

The sun shines through high pane windows,
Its rays warm your neck,
Your silhouette cast onto
Some old mahogany desk,
Catching bits of dust sailing by.

Not just anyone finds their way,
But you did
Because you were lost,
And the wrong place
Was the only right one.

Yet something deep calls back;
The voice of yesterday’s you,
Gripping onto the thought of
Time standing still.

Thinking of that place,
And longing for those bittersweet
Days that promised to never
Leave you behind.
