A fire was reported in buildings 105, 106 and 107 of University Village in Albany on Monday, according to a UCPD WarnMe.

Deputy Chief of the Berkeley Fire Department, or BFD, Keith May, said the department received a call for assistance from the Albany Fire Department at 11:31 a.m. regarding a “working fire” in a three-story condominium complex. Smoke was coming out of three windows, and the fire was located on the first floor of the complex, May added.

According to May, a victim was removed from the scene of the fire and transported to a local hospital, but status of injuries is unknown.

In response to the fire, BFD sent in two fire engines, a truck company, a paramedic supervisor and an ambulance, according to May.

Occupants were advised to evacuate and stay clear of responders in the building.

The fire has now been extinguished. May said the last of BFD unit cleared the scene at 1:30 p.m.
