For many of us, sea level rise may seem like a distant idea far into the future. However, we are already two decades into the 21st century and the sea level rise has evidently been no ghost to many coastal regions across the globe.

Lake Tahoe is a world-renowned alpine lake that many of us in the Bay Area have easy access to year-round. Therefore, it is our duty to protect its beauty and uphold the rules and regulations of the public space as well as any other natural sites we decide to visit.

Standing at the top of the Golden Gate Bridge overlooking San Francisco late at night, it almost feels as if there is a glow encasing your surroundings for miles. Whilst at the top of the Lawrence Hall of Science, the ambient glow into the far reaches of South San Francisco and Oakland fill the sky with a grayish hue.

Across the United States, California is well-renowned for its beautiful beaches, jagged coastlines, Sierra Nevada mountains, redwood forests and southern deserts. Within these amazing places to travel across the state live a multitude of species that call these places home.

With the blooming of flowers this spring, next time you see bees in the process of pollination you can now think of their great benefits to the natural world. Without honeybees, agriculture — the glue that holds our society together — may face declining productivity, which would cause detrimental global ripple effects.

With midterm season reaching a stopping point, many Berkeley students will have some extra time to explore new areas as the season starts changing. After a few months in Berkeley, the area can start to become very closed in, so planning a weekend trip with your friends is a great way to try something new and relieve stress.

Although Berkeley may just be one example of an urban area with a high housing demand, it is a larger signifer of how cities across the globe are also reaping the effects of an influx of people into the same square mileage.

Electronic waste is often overlooked, but it is important to remember that there are ways to recycle this in a semi-sustainable way to protect the environment from harm.

As each year goes by, we start to move further and further away from the first Earth Day of human history. As this time passes, we also become more knowledgeable about the future of the planet and ways we can properly manage natural resources to revert the effects of climate change.

is unlikely that just this one winter’s rainfall will save us from severe drought, as many repetitive winters of consistent water would be the best solution. However, it is a good starting point for California to slowly escape the never-ending cycle of dryness.
