Twenty-four-year-old Berkeley man William Sanchez-Gomez was arrested Sunday on suspicion of repeated sexual battery, according to an email from Berkeley Police Department spokesperson Officer Byron White.

The Berkeley Police Department, or BPD, Monday arrested a 37-year-old man on suspicion of several instances of sexual battery, according to a community-wide Nixle alert.

According to a BPD spokesperson, two people had been fighting when the suspect left the scene, returning with a metal bar. The suspect then struck the victim on the back with the metal bar.

The victim was grabbed by a passerby riding a bicycle about 8:15 a.m., according to a UCPD alert. The suspect fled the area immediately after the incident.

Officers were called about 9:30 a.m. regarding a person passed out in the bushes. The 61-year-old man had been seen lying there for the past several days.
