Cal’s loss to Santa Clara, off the back of its win at No. 10 Florida State, is illustrative of the Bears’ biggest difficulty this season: replicating their success.

After stumbling in its series against University of Illinois, Chicago, Cal baseball is back on its feet. Now, an action-packed week ahead will put the Bears to the test.

The Bears will have almost a week to work on their precision in front of goal before Saturday’s home game against UC Davis.

Instead of coming back to California in glory, the gulf in quality between the sides was put on full display, and the Bears’ nine-game losing streak was extended to 11.

Undoubtedly starting the season with stiff competition, Cal lacrosse is nevertheless relishing the opportunity for a battle.

Cal’s Halloween weekend trip featured games against the formidable No. 4 ranked Washington and fearsome No. 3 ranked Oregon State.

For the Bears, a draw or win against either team will render the trip up Interstate 5 a massive success.

The Bears were emboldened by having scored a goal — an idea that was completely alien just minutes before — and the comeback was on.

This weekend, for the seventh consecutive time, Cal will look to bounce back from a loss with a big win — or at this point, maybe even a draw.
