Watching a fashion show is almost like reading the news. But rather than current events, new aesthetic ideas are delivered through meticulously crafted garments, bags, shoes and make-up. Oh, and robot dogs. 

I’ve lost a lot of things this past year (money, dignity, sanity, etc etc). Every day was a special battle, and through the rare wins, many losses and quicksand trips down to rock bottom, I’ve cultivated all sorts ways to deal.

The difficulty of breaking into a new city is a well-shared sentiment, regardless of where you are in your life. But, fortune tends to favor the brave, and I’d like to encourage everyone to venture out to unfamiliarity (really good pasta is waiting for you).

Everyone has their favorite coffee shop. Well, I don’t have one….with the exception of Blue Bottle. But I don’t know if I’d call it a coffee shop as much as a heavenly sanctuary and the place that has seen-it-all.  

Here are some movie recommendations that will help you combat pretentious cinephiles with even more pretentiousness. 

Choose your own adventure books are a remarkable childhood classic. They call on the reader to make various narrative decisions that ultimately make up the entire course of the story. Do you fight the dragon or run away? Can you help the princess or leave her? Regardless of whether you end up dying by a clan of elves or return safely to the castle, they’re always a load of fun! Dear reader, I invite you to go on one more adventure, Berkeley edition. 

Dorm living. The epitome of the real American college experience. At least, so they say. The dorm life comes with a host of feelings and experiences that are truly unique and only understood by those who have braved the journey. Chances are, if you’re a freshman, you’re actively experiencing the experience at the moment. If you’re an upperclassman, perhaps you can reminisce on it. Or not.    

We at the Clog hope these movie recommendations leave your November feeling a little better. Because with midterms, the time change and Thanksgiving stress, we all deserve to feel warm, fuzzy and an extra bit gooey inside.

Art books, synonymous with coffee table books, are an entrance to the magical world of art, artworks, artists and everything in between. It’s fun to get lost in the infinite array of beautiful swirls of colors and compositions and learn something new on the way. Now, if you’ll allow me, I’d like to share some of my personal favorites that enchant me to Neverland. 

After barely making it back to my dorm room in my makeshift Mia Wallace costume, I had the sudden urge to get away for the weekend. So, standing in the bathroom in a sticky black wig, I impulsively planned out a weekend getaway to San Francisco.
