I think the concept of gap years is brilliant, it allows students everywhere to take a necessary breather and decompress from what they have come to perceive as the obligation of education and come to appreciate what education actually ought to be- a privilege and a joy.

Equipped with youthful moxie, during the summer of 2016, I decided to trek to the Amazonian village of Manacamiri to experience firsthand the life changing power of Ayahuasca and explore Amazonian culture.

In this town, there is a Hindu temple to the South, a Muslim mosque to the East, Christian church to the West and a Jewish synagogue to the North. They are all within 1 kilometer of each other. 

“Avatar” explores profound real-world themes of imperialism, corruption, spirituality, personal responsibility, mental health and forgiveness.

There is certainly overlap between the cultural zeitgeists between our two generations, but if I were to choose to belong to either one, it would unquestionably be Generation Z.

When it comes to addressing our loneliness, we should transcend the pitfalls of love stories by understanding that we aren’t incomplete without somebody else.

As “Deen,” I no longer had to be the ambassador for my name’s origin. I could just be an “American,” freed from the shackles of my name’s uniqueness in this country.

He simply needed to hear the reasons why what he believed in was wrong, and my initial attempt at doing that wasn’t empathetic or conducive enough.

She unwittingly reduced me and other black and brown boys to quotas on her diversity dashboard (or headboard, for that matter).

Sociocultural ideologies have affected my understanding and approach to not just my sexuality, but to women in general.
