Cal continues its late season turnaround with its third straight victory in the Big Game behind big performances from Trond Grizzell, Jaydn Ott

Ahead of the 126th Big Game, we sat down with Stanford Daily co-sports editor Kaushik Sampath to break down Stanford’s season and this weekend’s matchup.

If the decision stands, Washington State and Oregon State would become the only two voting members of the Pac-12 board, taking sole authority of a wide variety of conference proceedings, such as revenue and scheduling. 

What was once thought to be a fifth-straight matchup against a ranked team, Senior Day against Washington State brought Cal back into the win column. 

After a blowout loss to Oregon and falling to 1-5 in conference play, the Bears will travel back home, looking to break their spell of sadness against a struggling Washington State team that has lost five straight games.

Now a sophomore in college, Nate Burrell has become even more common on Cal’s defensive line rotation. But, as always, Burrell’s goals go far beyond just holding down a spot on the blue and gold defense.

With student-athletes finally being able to earn money while in school, two years still hasn’t given a roadmap to where college athletics goes from here.
