Down in Los Angeles, Saturday marked the home opener for USC at Uytengsu Aquatics Center and a rematch of the 2022 NCAA championship game. Saturday’s game also resulted in a new milestone for the Bears’ head coach Kirk Everist as his largest win over the Trojans during his tenure at Cal.

Monday’s win means Cal extends its winning streak against Navy to a perfect 10-0 record, dating back to 2006 when the two sides first met.

The Cal men’s water polo team, coming off a season of only two losses and a second consecutive National Championship, will continue its Southern California season as it faces off against Navy on Sept 4.

Both games, the Bears had the lead — and both were blown. Despite the final results, it’s worth noting the uphill battle Mike Neu’s team had to face entering the tournament as the lowest-seeded team.

Despite a stunning sweep against UCLA, Cal baseball’s struggle against conference opponents resumed this past weekend after dropping two of three games to Washington State.

While the Bears have lost their past five games, Santa Clara is on a five-game winning streak, most recently sweeping Pepperdine in a conference series on the road.

For the third day in a row, Cal’s defensive errors allowed the Ducks to either tie the game or score the go-ahead runs.

Coming off its first conference series win of the season against the Utah Utes, Cal baseball continued its hot streak Tuesday night, blowing out the USF Dons 17-3.
