This election represents an unprecedented challenge to our nation’s democracy. As COVID-19 has thrown usual voting processes into disarray, the presidential administration has repeatedly undermined people’s faith in fair elections. It is time for change.
But it’s not just national issues that matter — Berkeley needs capable leadership to guide us through the COVID-19 pandemic and its many ramifications, in addition to long-standing issues such as homelessness and climate change. Voters have much at stake Nov. 3, and it’s not too late to help shape the future of our government.
For the past month, the editorial board of The Daily Californian has been virtually interviewing many of Berkeley’s candidates about their plans for the city. Berkeley’s ballot is stacked with important races, including those for mayor, four City Council seats and five seats on the Rent Stabilization Board. In addition to these offices, we conducted independent research on the many transformative city measures and state propositions to determine which deserve your vote.
The Daily Cal has done the research so you don’t have to. Don’t sit this one out. Vote.
