Humans are connected by the plethora of tiny little things that make us human in the first place, and language is just an insignificant dot in the mural of humanity.

I picture a life where I pursue my passions instead of money, but I fear the regret I might face when I’m unable to provide for my family.

When I was writing this piece, I was acutely aware of the danger I could face if I returned to Russia just for arguing in favor of independent journalism that goes against the government line.

My connection with my country meant I could never fully connect with my new one, and with that realization came the acceptance of my permanent displacement.

The status quo of any country or state cannot be expected to improve if the voices of its people, let alone its lawmakers, are suppressed.

With increasing political engagement and voter turnout, our generation has become more engrossed and animated in politics. That should be encouraged as we challenge the merits of these institutions, but that does not warrant a complete overhaul of any system without an in-depth reflection on its existence and the consequences. 

Each persona works to discriminate against Asian women in some way and can be translated into how each acts during sex. 

My recommendation to my peers is to vote for independent candidates. Vote for students who will fight for you instead of fighting for a party.

But despite all the debates, rebuttals and party politics, one thing remains certain: UC Berkeley needs nothing short of dependable, considerate, dedicated and tenacious leaders to navigate whatever lies ahead in the upcoming year.

From the tangible solutions to the unwavering commitment to the UC Berkeley community, the Daily Cal’s Editorial Board ultimately decided that Amarbayar would be the most suitable candidate for president in this ASUC election.
