Berkeley City Council member charged with campaign finance violations

District 8 City Councilmember Lori Droste was charged with a fine of $750 as a result of campaign finance violations at a Fair Campaign Practices Commission meeting Thursday, as first reported by Berkeleyside.

Incumbent Kate Harrison re-elected to Berkeley City Council District 4 seat

Harrison was sworn into office in March 2017 and during her time on the council has worked on multiple issues, including police reform, affordable housing and homelessness. Now that Harrison has been re-elected, she said she is “gratified” by the results.

Buffy Wicks beat opponent Jovanka Beckles for the California State Assembly District 15 seat, receiving 56 percent of the vote with 100 percent of precincts reporting as of press time at 3:01 a.m. Wednesday morning.

Droste led the polls into the early morning hours Wednesday as votes were counted, and secured 56.05 percent of the vote as of press time about 2 a.m., with all precincts reporting.
