The search for accessibility: Residents with disabilities face challenges in finding city housing

Illescas ended up in an apartment about 2 miles from campus that fit their needs, they said. They did not have their car at first, though, and had to bus every day to campus. They said the distance was hard to deal with but that it is more manageable than “having to climb a lot of flights of stairs.”

Inpatient care for the campus community: A look at Sutter Health’s Herrick Campus

Through the doors, up the elevator and down the fourth-floor hallway lies a Sutter Health Herrick Campus unit dedicated to assisting those who require psychiatric help. Every year, about 80 UC Berkeley students and faculty members seek treatment for a variety of psychiatric disorders at the center, located at 2001 Dwight Way.

Students with disabilities face inaccessibility, dwindling resources in campus housing

Campus senior Justin Illescas never lived in campus housing, although they would have liked to. Illescas, who uses they/them pronouns, said UC Berkeley housing never replied to their application, and as a differently abled individual, they were not sure how to ask for accommodations in the first place.
