Magali Mercado, a daughter of Latinx immigrants and a first-generation college student, said she found it hard to believe “someone like me” was accepted to UC Berkeley as a transfer student — and she advises current transfer students to remember that they belong.

Buehner initially intended to live in campus housing for both his junior and senior years, but he only received an offer after the fifth round of cycles. His option? A triple on the Clark Kerr Campus with two newly admitted freshman.

Although the thought of being the "new kid" in school can be intimidating, it's not the least bit nerve-wracking to transfer to UC Berkeley, one of the best universities in the nation, a community with unparalleled opportunities and an inclusive, diverse atmosphere.

Two falls. Two springs. One or two summers. That's all the time that transfer students have to get everything done as undergraduates at UC Berkeley. Is it really possible?
