Following a close 2-1 loss against league No. 3 UMass Lowell on Oct. 6, Cal field hockey’s mentality was simple: to regroup. It did just that to dismantle league No. 9 Bryant 8-1 on Sunday. Regrouping after a loss that was well within reach is much easier said than done, however.

The blue and gold will look to gain momentum in America East Conference play as they travel to the UMass Lowell River Hawks and Bryant Bulldogs on Oct. 6 and Oct. 8. Its east coast trip comes following back-to-back matchups against rival Stanford.

After four straight away games, the Bears are coming home this Friday for the Stanford doubleheader with a 3-5 record and a two-loss streak — having fallen in their past two matches against Albany and Vermont.

The blue and gold will have to take advantage of each chance they have and increase their shot accuracy in order to hold their own against a high-ranking team in Penn State. It’s still early in the season, but the Bears will have the opportunity to begin a winning streak at home this Friday.
