2014-15 ASUC Elections

For the first time since 2012, SQUELCH! released an entirely satirical slate of executive candidates Sunday for the upcoming ASUC elections, to accompany its three serious senate candidates.

Approximately 250 students and community members gathered for The Daily Californian’s annual ASUC Candidates Forum on Friday to listen to this year’s executive candidates discuss the goals they hope to accomplish if elected.

The Defend Affirmative Action Party and Student Action are voicing concerns that ASUC Attorney General Kevin Sabo has been acting in a partisan manner after he announced the disqualification of one candidate and filed several charges against another.

Three candidates are running for the position of external affairs vice president in this year’s ASUC elections with goals of bringing students together and advocating for the student body.

Candidates running in this year’s election gathered in Kroeber Hall to listen to the ASUC Elections Council outline general election bylaws and financial procedures.

CalSERVE announced a 13-person senate slate Monday for this year’s ASUC elections, a slightly smaller slate than last year.

After winning only one executive seat in the ASUC last year, the Student Action party announced its presidential candidate and 15 senate candidates for the upcoming ASUC general elections.

UC Berkeley junior Naweed Mohabbat is running as CalSERVE’s presidential candidate in this year’s ASUC elections, the party announced Monday night.
