Though his term has only just begun, it seems Ng has a firm grasp on the bureaucracy he faces and the tools at his disposal to make the changes students wish to see.

Despite recent conversations surrounding the merits of political parties within the ASUC, ElevateCal secured two major positions within the ASUC executive slate at Friday’s tabulation ceremony. 

English and music double major and sophomore Mia Shelton is running for ASUC Academic Affairs Vice President, or AAVP, on platforms of holistic wellbeing, intellectual curiosity, inner ASUC collaboration and student-accessible committees.

Kenneth Ng, a second-year physics and math major with minors in public policy and climate science, is running for ASUC Academic Affairs Vice President, or AAVP. His platforms are rekindling relationships with academic and identity groups on campus, student-centered policies and forging a new future for academics at UC Berkeley.

The UC Board of Regents kicked off its second day of meetings Wednesday on UCLA’s campus to discuss topics concerning academic affairs, governance, equity and public engagement.

Weichert has been one of the ASUC’s most efficient and productive executive officers this past year. As the academic affairs vice president, or AAVP, he has created material change that has impacted every student on campus.

The ASUC Senate discussed information security and privacy on campus, as well as the Student Technology Fund Referendum in their Wednesday meeting.

The California State Legislature introduced a bill which would nullify the decision requiring UC Berkeley to reduce in-person enrollment for fall 2022.

As the omicron variant of COVID-19 rages through the country, ASUC officials worry a lack of care could lead to a devastating campus outbreak.
