Almost 200 people came together Saturday at a Zoom rally hosted by the University Council-American Federation of Teachers, or UC-AFT, to demand a fair contract for UC lecturers and demonstrate their willingness to strike.

Largest UC employee union reaches historic agreement, ending outsourcing

The UC system reached a historic tentative agreement Tuesday with service workers of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees Local 3299 Union, or AFSCME Local 3299. The tentative agreement ultimately puts an end to outsourcing UC service jobs, while also making it easier for eligible contract workers to convert to UC employment.

88rising makes hip-hop its own at Bill Graham Civic Auditorium

On Oct. 31, music from hip-hop heavyweights like Drake and Run The Jewels was relegated to background music for 88rising’s final stop on the “88 Degrees and Rising” tour. Focused on but not limited to representing Asian and Asian American artists, the part-media company, part-record label set out on tour in September.
