The campus announced Wednesday that Associate Vice Chancellor for Admissions and Enrollment Anne De Luca has accepted a position at Harvard University and will be leaving UC Berkeley at the end of July.

Members of the UC Berkeley community discussed student loans and the rising costs of higher education across the nation at a panel Monday, voicing concerns about a general lack of student financial literacy and an absence of action to support public higher education.

UC Berkeley adopted a new freshman admissions policy in April that will allow the submission of optional letters of recommendation.

UC admissions data released Thursday indicate an increase in nonresident and transfer admissions for fall 2015 compared with previous years’ statistics, while California freshman applicants faced a 1.7 percent decline in acceptances.

Joseph D. Greenwell was appointed as the new UC Berkeley Associate Vice Chancellor and Dean of Students Wednesday evening, following Jonathan Poullard’s resignation from the post last September.

After eight years as UC Berkeley's dean of students, Jonathan Poullard will step down from the position on September 13.
