Berkeley development projects in the works, offering affordable units

Under the Regional Housing Needs Allocation Plan, Berkeley must build 8,934 apartment units, and some are required to be below market rate to increase affordable housing options for low-income residents.

Five housing projects are currently in the works for Berkeley. In total, 500 apartment units have been proposed to meet Berkeley’s development requirements

Vision 2050, a citizen-led effort in Berkeley launched by Mayor Jesse Arreguín to develop sustainable infrastructure in the city, spoke about its goals during its second information night Monday evening at the North Berkeley Senior Center.
