Number of applicants from China to campus graduate programs surges despite national decline

Applications from China for graduate programs across the United States declined by 1 percent this past year, following a 3 percent decline in 2013, according to a recent report compiled by the Council of Graduate Schools. But despite this leveling off of applicants, UC Berkeley and other large institutions still attract Chinese nationals to their graduate programs.

UC freshman applicant pool composition shifts

UC campuses have seen a surge in freshman applications this year, with especially high numbers of nonresident and Latino applicants. This year, Chicano and Latino applicants are for the first time the largest ethnic group represented in the overall UC applicant pool.
