ASUC Sexual Violence Commission

The ASUC recently proposed the Berkeley Community Angel Shots Initiative, which would fund the distribution of fliers in Berkeley’s restaurants, bars and eateries to spread awareness for sexual harassment and sexual violence prevention measures. 

ASUC officials introduced four bills and announced a number of measures and events at the ASUC Senate’s regular meeting on Wednesday.

The ASUC Senate met Wednesday to discuss the future of the Martin Luther King Jr. Student Union and Eshleman Hall and vote on several bills regarding resources for students.

According to ASUC Senate agendas, several commission chairs have not been attending ASUC Senate meetings.

About a dozen students gathered in Barrows Hall on Friday afternoon for the ASUC Sexual Violence Commission’s Sexual Assault Awareness Month conference.

Several student protesters assembled outside Phi Gamma Delta, or Fiji, fraternity Saturday afternoon to protest sexual assault. But they were interrupted by members of the fraternity, who began posing behind the protesters in what many alleged was a mockery of the rally.

Undergraduate, graduate and professional students must complete this annual sexual violence and sexual harassment, or SVSH, prevention course on CalCentral.

Nearly two months into the fall semester, the ASUC sexual violence prevention commission sits abandoned — inactive, because apparently, only one person applied to be its chair.
