From the release of her first movie “The Jinkx and Dela Holiday Special” last December to the already-bustling preparations of her 2021 holiday tour with longtime collaborator Jinkx Monsoon, BenDeLaCreme is constantly bearing the weight of her holiday queen crown.

The album prioritizes camp and wit over vocal technique, boosting the plot of its film and, as a result, the morales of young queer listeners.

“The Jinkx and DeLa Holiday Special” manages to make naked Jesus and Christmas day-drinking feel more wholesome than a Hallmark movie.

"I think it’s that appreciation to be making something joyous that’s going to bring joy to a lot of people,” BenDeLaCreme said.

“Ben and I found a lot of nuance in our performance and a lot of new things to add to the performance since the first time we did it in San Francisco, so we’re really excited to bring it back to San Francisco with everything we’ve learned in the U.K.,” Monsoon said.

Alongside what was scripted, DeLa and Jinkx pulled tricks out of their sleeves left and right when it came to getting the audience involved.

Describing her onstage persona as “terminally delightful,” BenDeLaCreme built her character around the notion of “blind optimism perpetually trying to look for the silver lining.”
