‘We say gay’: Berkeley school district clashes with restrictive LGBTQ+ Florida legislation

Amid concerns over legislation dubbed “don’t say gay” in Florida, parents of Berkeley students discuss measures taken by Berkeley Unified School District to support the LGBTQ+ community. Parents also remarked on the differences in attitudes between different states in regard to LGBTQ+ students.

Florida’s Parental Rights in Education law limits instruction about sexual orientation and gender identity. While students in Berkeley don’t anticipate similar actions in their state, some regard it as a warning.
