ASUC Senate committees convene for 1st meetings

The standing committees — Finance; Constitutional and Procedural Review; University and External Affairs; and Advocacy Agenda — meet every Monday to deal with specialized ASUC operations. Temporary and ad hoc committees can be formed throughout the term to deal with unforeseen situations such as an unexpected office vacancy.

Cal Lodge conundrum

CAMPUS ISSUES: In order to become a more valuable asset for the ASUC, Cal Lodge needs to become a location that is widely used in the summertime.

Cal Lodge has struggled for far too long. The ASUC-managed property near Lake Tahoe provides a great retreat location for UC Berkeley students and others, but in recent years, it has lost a considerable amount of money — the ASUC estimates that the lodge lost upward of $27,000 last year.

ASUC’s Cal Lodge set to lose $27,000 for 2011-12 fiscal year

Cal Lodge, a  property near Lake Tahoe owned by the ASUC, will sustain yet another financial loss for the 2011–2012 fiscal year. Reported losses so far for the current fiscal year, which began July 1, 2011, have already reached $18,337, according to Marilyn Stager, interim director of the ASUC Auxiliary.
