For the third straight tournament, the No. 10 Cal men’s golf team played well but ultimately had to settle for a second-place finish.

The No. 10 Cal men’s golf team will conclude its regular season at the Western Intercollegiate in Santa Cruz. This year’s competition at the Pasatiempo Golf Club provides the Bears with one final opportunity to iron out any hitches in their game before the start of postseason play.

Despite fighting gallantly and making a late push on Saturday to close the gap on No. 8 Oklahoma, Cal had to ultimately settle for second place.

On a national stage with some of the best teams in the country, the Bears displayed that they are a team to be reckoned with, come postseason time.

The No. 14 Cal men’s golf team, which was severely hindered by strong windy conditions that led to one of its worst rounds of the season. In the end, when the dust settled, Cal finished in seventh place after digging itself into a hole too big to escape of in the first round.

In what Cal men’s golf head coach Walter Chun described as “winning the lottery twice,” redshirt freshman William Aldred shot two holes-in-one at the San Jose State-hosted Western Intercollegiate this past weekend.

Cal men's golf finds itself in a good opportunity to bounce back from a tumultuous regular season.

Like the namesake of the event, Cal men’s golf is taking to the skies for the ASU-hosted ASU Thunderbird Invitational, held in Tempe, Arizona, this Saturday and Sunday.
