Emotions aside, the nation’s top squad put up dominating performances on both days, with Bears swimmers emerging victorious in 13 out of 14 events against the Sun Devils on Friday and 12 out of 14 against the Wildcats on Saturday.

Bears bust out 13 medals at FINA World Championships
With a program as dedicated as Cal, it has become normal to see records fall and medals won by Bears at international competitions. Over an eight-day World Championship in Budapest, current and past Cal swimmers combined for 13 medals and several different records.

Multiple Bears find success at World Championships
Baker wasn’t the only Cal swimmer to find success in the backstroke events for Team USA. Although Murphy won the Olympic gold medal in the 100-meter backstroke last summer, he barely managed to get onto the podium by earning a bronze medal behind China’s Jiayu Xu and fellow Team USA member Matt Grevers.
