UC Berkeley graduate students in the department of African American studies released a letter to Chancellor Carol Christ, claiming they are ready to strike if the administration fails to meet the demands of campus organizers in support of a cost of living adjustment by March 6.

Tucked in the corner of the Hearst Field Annex building is the Fannie Lou Hamer Black Resource Center, one of the various resources for the Black community at UC Berkeley. As a part of UC Berkeley’s African American Student Development, the center serves the academic, social, cultural and political needs of the campus Black community.

Chancellor Carol Christ responds to Bears for Palestine cubicle display bill

UC Berkeley Chancellor Carol Christ released two letters Feb. 18 responding to an ASUC bill that would have condemned a cubicle display by Bears for Palestine in Eshleman Hall that included photos of controversial Palestinian activists — some of whom had allegedly been involved in acts of terrorism.

ASUC Senate discusses Bears for Palestine controversy, UCPD initiatives

Following Monday’s Bears for Palestine protest, tensions were high during the third ASUC Senate meeting of the semester Wednesday. Public comment speakers were present at the meeting, with most speakers standing in solidarity with BFP and condemning the ASUC’s handling of the situation.

UC undergraduate enrollment rises for 4th consecutive year

UC in-state undergraduate enrollment rose for the fourth year in a row in fall 2019. According to the UC Office of the President, or UCOP, the enrollment increase is a result of the UC system’s commitment to providing higher education to more Californians.
